Eggless Chocolate Mouse
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
- 1 cup heavy whipped cream (fresh cream)
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tsp instant coffee powder
- Some maraschino cherries for garnishing (optional)
- 1 Oreo cookie for garnishing (optional)
Step 1: Take 1/4th cup water in a pan and bring it to boil. Keep the gas on medium heat. If you are using dark chocolate instead of semi sweet chocolate chips then add 2 tbsp sugar in water while boiling them so that sugar is dissolved properly in water.
Step 2: Now take semi sweet chocolate chips in a bowl and add boiling water in it.
Step 3: Mix it until chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth. Also add coffee powder at this stage and mix it nicely with chocolate. If chocolate has not melted then melt it over double boiler or in microwave. Microwave it only for 10 seconds. Do not heat it more in microwave as it gets burn very quickly. Now leave the chocolate mixture on the counter until it reaches room temperature.
Step 4: In the mean while take chilled heavy whipping cream in a bowl and beat it till soft peaks form. Do not over beat it.
Step 5: Now add half of the whipping cream in the chocolate mixture and fold it very gently until is combined nicely. Then fold in rest of the whipping cream until combined nicely and it is smooth.
Step 6: Take all the mousse in a piping bag and divide it equally into four cups. I made simple ribbon like shape and poured it in the cups or you can be fancier and can use different piping tip and pour in any shape you like. You can also simply use spoon to fill it in cups. You can use any cup of your choice or simply you can refrigerate it in the container in which you have made it and can directly eat it from there.
Step 7: Garnish each cup with a cherry. Crumble the Oreo cookie and sprinkle little bit on top of each cup. You can decorate it in any way you like. Just explore the artist inside you
Step 8: Now refrigerate it for at least 2 hours and serve chilled to you loved ones. This mousse is too decadent and perfect to satisfy your chocolate cravings. I have also not added any butter in it to make it little light. This is a perfect make ahead desert for parties. It is good in refrigerator for three days just cover it with plastic wrap. Do try this and let me know how you like it.
